Unique to the enclosure industry, EDS obtains dimensions optically via a total station in conjunction with proprietary targets. This enables unparalleled accuracy to measure in three dimensions. Typical tolerances are +/- 1mm. It's the same precise method which is employed to build skyscrapers, ships, and bridges. Coordinates for complex geometries can be easily and accurately acquired with absolute certainty. Pools and other obstacles are not impediments with this technique. Measurement data is downloaded and then converted into complete annotated fabrication drawings (a/k/a layout plans).

Fabrication plans can be furnished to the contractor in 24" x 36" and/or 11" x 17" high resolution color coded prints and/or emailed in almost any format. All drawings are developed with CAD and can be customized for unique customer requirements. Absolute dimensions for virtually every enclosure member are depicted, including the lengths and angles for lateral braces, locations of door headers, and specifications to completely preassemble gutter with angle (if required) and how to install it.

Interesting and very complex designs can be created which might have been problematic or inconceivable with conventional techniques. Fabrication on the job site can be eliminated or made dramatically easier by working from comprehensive and easy to read plans. Examples can be viewed by clicking the "CAD Drawings" tab above.

The cost for EDS's state of the art layout service is comparable to what competitors charge for crude pencil drawn layouts derived with a rudimentary tape measurer. Consequently, EDS can save contractors money which is frequently squandered in labor and expensive materials to fix the ubiquitous problems which often arise when conventional measuring techniques are employed. An additional benefit is that home owners are typically happier because their screen enclosures fit perfectly without any dubious modifications.

Optional services:

Preliminary site surveys/layouts that can be emailed directly to your engineer in almost any format to create final permit drawings. This service can reduce lead times and eliminate burdensome revisions which result from miscommunication or inadequate information to the engineer. This service also spares contractors from having to take detailed field measurements and prepare preliminary permit drawings themselves. EDS has also partnered with some engineers to provide complete permit and fabrication drawings directly to the contractor. All that the contractor has to furnish is an address, basic information for the enclosure (e.g. color, door locations, roof style, et cetera), and specify any unique requirements (screen from inside, kick plate, 20/20 screen, setback issues, et cetera).

EDS can also provide CAD designs for custom extrusions, including cross-section properties, to enable the customer to evaluate the cost and performance of the design. A dxf file is also generated for the die maker's benefit.
